Winter tyres: special rubber and profiles

From October to April... Think about your snow tyres

Nettoyage

When the average daily temperature drops below 7°C, it’s recommended that you change to winter tyres. Their softer rubber and special profiles guarantee better grip under all conditions, including dry ones. Winter tyres are not just helpful when you go where there is snow. They are clearly safer, particularly for those who drive long distances or often drive in Wallonia.

Winter tyres: compulsory in some neighbouring countries!

For obvious safety reasons, some European countries have already made it compulsory to install winter tyres on vehicles. This is the case in Germany, Finland, Sweden, and Estonia. In France, only certain prefectures have this requirement. Austria requires the use of winter tyres on certain roads like mountain passes. Switzerland does not require winter tyres but informs drivers that they could be held responsible in the event of an accident.

Many countries have not yet voted on laws for winter tyre use (they are, nevertheless, often highly recommended by road safety organisations).

Our winter tyre line

Goodyear

ULTRAGRIP 7+ is an improved version of a tyre that was voted tops by the trade papers.

Goodyear

Goodyear has launched the UltraGrip 7+, an upgraded version of the UltraGrip. Goodyear’s new generation compound technology enables its use for a large range of temperatures and ensures perfect grip on wet roads and on snow and ice. The new carcass design adjusts perfectly to road surfaces and to dynamic load, providing optimum resistance to aquaplaning, increased mileage and up to 8% lower rolling resistance.

ULTRAGRIP Performance 2: a high-performance tyre

This tyre uses new generation three-dimensional tread which optimises grip and traction. Winter rubber is based on the high-performance compound used in the UltraGrip 7. This tyre is both very stable at high speeds and uses its asymmetrical centre zone to provide excellent grip on slippery surfaces.

Continental

The TS 830 tyre: for highly effective braking!

Continental

The new TS 830 provides a great margin of safety thanks to its exceptional braking performance on damp greasy and snow-covered roads.

This effectiveness is the result of its special profile consisting of high block rigidity in the tread pattern centre. This tyre’s design also enables an increase in electronic system effectiveness (ABS ESC, etc.)

Kleber

The Krisalp HP is Kleber Winter Tourism’s high performance tyre.

Kleber

Strengths:

  • Guarantees safe and effective braking in all winter weather
  • Very good grip on ice and black ice
  • Remarkable stability at high speeds

Kleber provides the Kleber Assistance programme free of charge for winter and summer tyres.

Dunlop

SP Winter Sport 3D: for demanding drivers...

This tyre was developed to meet the expectations of automobile enthusiasts who demand the best of their car, even in winter.

It differentiates itself by its directional profile and three different types of sipes, in three different areas of the tread and a new generation winter rubber compound. These characteristics enable the Dunlop tyre to stand out on snow-covered and damp roads and on cold-weather dry roads. As a result, the SP Winter Sport 3D provides real driving pleasure under all road conditions.

Michelin

The Pilot Alpin tyre is recognised by the trade papers as a very high-performance tyre for powerful vehicles.

Michelin

The latest generation (PA3) further improves the tyre’s behaviour. The Helio rubber compound includes sunflower oil which enables the new MICHELIN Pilot Alpin PA3 to improve its performance on wet surfaces while strengthening its performance on snow. Its tread’s asymmetric sculpting provides optimal behaviour on both dry and wet roads.
